North Beach Park, Hollywood Beach, Florida |
| Hollywood Beach's North Beach Park is probably the easiest beach
access. It's right at the eastern terminus of Sheridan Street and
has plenty of parking (for a fee). A snack bar and restrooms,
lifeguards, picnic tables and direct access to the Hollywood Beach
Broadwalk make this park a top choice for a day at the beach. There
is even a wooden tower with an observation deck that you can climb
to get a good view of the area. Especially on the weekends, the smell of barbeque and the sound of Latin rhythms wafts through the picnic area shaded by tall sea grape trees and palms. The broadwalk is busy with runners, walkers, bicycles, and young families pushing baby carriages. If you want to stay away from the busy, crowded Central District, then North Beach Park might be for you. However, it is by no means a "remote" beach. All the comforts of Hollywood Beach are very close by. |

| Hollywood Beach has very facilities and parking, but access is not free if you arrive by car. |

| Above: This is an extreme close-up of the sand grains on Hollywood Beach. It is not pure quartz crystals like we have on the Gulf coast, but is a mixture of quartz crystals and lots of smooth polished shell fragments. It is these shell fragments that give the sand its golden-brown color. It's beautiful sand; sea turtles love to dig their nests in it. |
