I stayed in a one bedroom
fully furnished unit overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. It was
immaculately clean and totally modern. I parked my golf cart out
front and plugged it in to charge while I wasn't using it. I'm
sharing the photos and video below so you can see what the resort
accommodations are like, generally. Each unit is different. The
beach rental units are individually owned, but the resort manages
them. They have all sizes, so just give the Palm Island Resort a
call and they'll hook you up. They have some pretty nice rates in
the off season (summer and fall).
I could really get used to living in a place like this. The only
sound I could hear at night was the sound of the Gulf of Mexico
lapping gently on the beach, the sound of a light breeze rustling
the trees, and a few crickets. Even during the day it was quiet with
little more than the surf and some birds calling, but
occasionally there was some noise from the various maintenance crews
on the property.
If you are looking for peace and quiet and don't need
entertainment beyond what the beach and local waters offer, you
can't go wrong with Palm Island Resort. And of course it's a
popular wedding and honeymoon destination as well as a great place
for family reunions and getaways.
Here's a quick video walk-through of the unit I stayed in:

Right between the units is the beach access and
dune walkover.
Tennis courts were practically right across the
street.
On the bay side of the island, behind the
restaurant, are several docks where you can launch a kayak or your
boat.
