Coquina Beach Trail Brings Changes

An 8 foot wide concrete trail is being constructed from 5th Street South in Bradenton Beach, all the way to Longboat Pass. Change doesn't come without cost, though. In addition to the nearly $400,000 cost of the project comes the cost of losing more than 60 mature Australian pine trees which were a source of much needed shade and shelter for humans and wildlife.
This is just one more battle in the "war against Australian pines" being waged by the State of Florida. I'm not against the control or eradication of demonstrably harmful invasive species, but some discretion is in order.
Check out my photos and commentary on the Coquina Beach Trail.

Hi David,
My name is Ali and I found your great Florida blog the other day. I'm experimentig with a blog called ResortPosts.com that's dedicated to the Florida area, and I included your post and picture, gave you credit, and linked back to you.
I'm guessing you'll appreciate the extra visibility, but if not, I'm happy to remove the info.
Also, if you'd like me to feature you any time you blog, just let me know, and I'm happy to do the same thing next time you post!
