Water Quality (bacterial levels)

http://esetappsdoh.doh.state.fl.us/irm00beachwater/default.aspx For reports on water testing near the beach you plan to visit. This is the Florida government site www.myflorida.com
http://www.nrdc.org/water/oceans/ttw/mapflo.asp A very informative resource concerning  water quality on vacation beaches can be found at this page of the National Resources Defense Council.
Certified Healthy Beaches A list of beaches certified as "healthy" by the National Healthy Beaches Campaign. Beaches are certified by coastal experts as healthy if they meet certain criteria. The beach towns do not pay for this certification. Just because a beach does not appear on the list does not in any way indicate that it is not healthy. It just means that town did not apply to be certified by this organization. This designation is NOT the same as the "Blue Wave Beach" designation, for which the beach community must PAY.
